The Providence St. Peter-Summit Pacific Rural Family Medicine program is located at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, Washington. The family medicine program offers comprehensive rural focused family medicine training in a new integrated medicine ambulatory care center and contiguous rural critical access hospital just west of Olympia, Washington. The program complies with all policies and procedures set forth by the ACGME.
The goal of the program is to produce family medicine physicians that are skilled in caring for the needs of all patients, with flexibility to work within the structure of communities and health systems to advocate for the needs of their patients, and capable of leading teams of inter-professional health care providers to promote the best quality outcomes.
The program offers full scope, comprehensive family medicine training that incorporates the benefits of both worlds where residents learn hands-on patient care skills and office-based procedures in both the urban and rural community settings. The program offers diverse learning opportunities including longitudinal specialty care, a unique low barrier rural Medication-Assisted Treatment Clinic and comprehensive training for substance use disorder, interprofessional team based inpatient care, high volume emergency and urgent care, and enhanced training in prenatal and obstetric care, patient safety, quality improvement and leadership development.
