Highlights from the Stanwood Camano Island Womens Expo

Providence Institute for a Healthier Community participated in the Stanwood Camano Island Women’s Expo on Saturday, April 29. There were almost 90 vendors and over 1000 participants in attendance. Women were treated to many self-care techniques and loads of information – massage, yoga, dance, financial and health care information. Women also had opportunities to explore beauty techniques and art for self, home and garden.

The Institute for a Healthier Community chose to highlight the upcoming National Women’s Health Week from May 14 – 20. The key messages were; Be Active, Eat Well, Encourage Safe Behaviors and Take Care of Your Mental Health. Over 150 participants enjoyed an opportunity to test and enhance their health literacy with our ‘My Plate Quiz’, and earned a ‘thumbs up stress ball’ or pedometer. Linkages were made to community resources on healthy eating, exercise, diabetes through the Snohomish County Resource Hub LiveWellLocal© and the self-help resources provided online at Pathways to Health.
