Update: Emergency Department expansion at Sacred Heart

September 28, 2012

New Spokane Emergency Department entrance opens October 1

Construction work around the expanding Sacred Heart Emergency Department has reached a new project milestone.

Beginning Monday, October 1, the temporary entrance via the Lower Level skywalk will close. Visitors to the ER will utilize the new driveway and drop-off area, which is newly paved and landscaped.

Parking is not yet available, though the hospital offers free valet service at this entrance, 24/7 during this project.

The City is still working on a major water main project, which has blocked access to Eight Avenue from Cowley Street. Access to the ER is available via Division Street (turn right at 8th Ave.) from the east, and Cowley Street (turn east onto 8th Ave.) from the west.

Finishing work on the new areas continues inside, so emergency patients and visitors will be directed down two corridors to the existing reception area. Staff is available to assist, if needed.

Grand opening of the new Emergency Department is scheduled for December 18!
