Nomination Letter from a patient’s family member….
Our mother suffered a stroke and was a patient at your hospital for nearly 3 weeks. Sadly for our family, she was not able to overcome the medical complications of her stroke and passed away. Although her passing has been very difficult for our family, we wanted to express our true gratitude for the great personal attention and kindness many of your staff gave our mother while she was being treated at your hospital.
Although we are extremely grateful to all of the eighth floor nursing staff who attended to our mother, we would like to further acknowledge that the care, attention and compassion provided by Cat, Jon, Andre, Madeline, Nia, Jessica, Leslie and Hildegard was exemplary and appreciated beyond words.
Cat was on duty during mom’s final hours. During that time, Cat was very attentive to meeting all of our mom’s needs as well as providing great comfort to our entire family as mom’s life was approaching its end. Her extraordinary efforts included: explaining to our family in a very sensitive and compassionate way what to expect to see as our mom’s life was nearing its end, arranging to have the harpist play in mom’s room that brought her much joy as well as summoning the chaplain. These events helped instill great comfort and peace during an extremely sad and emotional time for our family. Please express our gratitude to your staff.
Congratulations Catherine, our Northwest Washington August 2017 Daisy Award winner.
