Enteral Nutrition Therapy

Enteral therapy, commonly referred to as tube feeding, is the administration of food (formula) through a tube directly into your stomach or intestines. This allows people who are unable to maintain weight and strength by oral intake to receive optimized nutrition. Enteral therapy always originates with a prescription from a qualified physician who is caring for the patient.

A Providence Infusion and Pharmacy dietitian or nurse will teach you and your caregivers how to use enteral equipment and explain what you need to know about your therapy. We will make sure that you understand and are comfortable with your specific therapy and provide written instructions specifically tailored to your nutrition needs.

We offer a wide variety of products including oral, organic, disease specific, elemental, and whole food formulas and provide supplies for all methods of tube feeding, including bolus syringe, gravity bag, and pump feeding. Please call regarding specific formula availability.

We have developed relationships with key shippers and local delivery services to assure that you receive the best possible service. Formula and supplies are delivered directly to the hospital or your home as soon as you begin therapy and we schedule shipments to replace stock.

At Providence Home Infusion and Pharmacy Services, we offer home tube-feeding services, including the following:

  • In-person tube feeding education by a registered dietitian or nurse
  • Home delivery of enteral formula and supplies for:
    • All tube types, including ENFit
    • All feeding methods, including gastrostomy, jejunostomy, nasogastric and nasojejunal tubes
  • Specialized clinical follow-up for pediatric and adult patients
  • Insurance verification prior to start of service to provide expected costs upfront
  • 24/7 phone access to your care team (dietitians available 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Your equipment and supplies

Providence Infusion and Pharmacy Services will provide all the tube feeding equipment and supplies you need to infuse your formula. There are three methods of feeding: bolus syringe feeding, gravity drip feedings, and pump feedings. The type of feeding tube and your diagnoses will impact the type of equipment needed. A dietitian will work with your physician and you to find the best feeding method for you.

Your nutrition care team

To give you consistent, high quality care, we assign one registered dietitian and one clinical nutrition coordinator to be your partners and primary contacts throughout your treatment.
We follow the most up-to-date nutrition care guidelines as set forth by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

For your convenience and peace of mind, we offer step-by-step instructional videos for your enteral therapy.
