Neuro-Oncology

Providence provides the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and non-malignant brain tumors. Our brain tumor specialists are experienced at handling complex and difficult brain and nervous system cancers.

We offer a full spectrum of treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The neuro-oncology program at Providence treats patients with cancers of the central nervous system, including brain and spine tumors:

  • Astrocytomas
  • Gliomas
  • Meningiomas
  • Metastatic brain tumors
  • Pituitary tumors
  • Pseudotumor cerebri
  • Skull-base tumors
  • Spinal tumors

Clinical trials may also be an option for certain patients, and physicians at Providence have access to national research studies.

Providence provides the diagnosis and treatment of malignant and non-malignant brain tumors. Physicians from a variety of specialties work together to create customized treatment plans for each patient that may include the latest chemotherapy, radiation technology or surgical procedure.

The optimal treatment for many brain tumors is surgical removal of the tumor. Each of our surgeons brings to the practice years of training and experience in all types of primary, metastatic and pituitary tumors, and knowledge of the latest, most advanced treatment modalities.

Most benign tumors can be treated and cured with surgical resection. Some types of malignant or metastatic tumors require surgical resection followed by other therapies. Our surgeons perform highly technical surgical resection using the most up-to-date intraoperative equipment available, such as the Stealth neuro-navigation system for accurate localization of the tumor during surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery for treatment.
