The tricuspid valve is one of four valves in the heart. It is located between the upper right chamber (right atrium) and lower right chamber (right ventricle). Several types of diseases exist that can affect this valve:
Surgery to treat triscuspid valve problems is unusual by itself, and typically happens in conjunction with surgery to repair or replace the mitral and/or aortic valves. The procedure usually involves a repair of the valve, with the occasional need for replacement surgery.
